Hall High School Wind Ensemble with special guest Scott Hartman, trombone
This is a philanthropic endeavor from the Hartt School chapter of Phi Mu Alpha to create a musical experience for high school music students in the local Hartford area. Mr. Hartman will perform with the Hall High School Wind Ensemble; the program includes excerpts from Hartt composer David Macbride's River Dance. This will be followed by a performance from a trombone choir assembled from the master-class workshop and the Yale Trombone Choir. Friday, May 9 at 7:30 pm in Lincoln Theater. Admission is $10, $5 for students.

Masterclass with Trombonist Scott Hartman

Trombone students recommended by band directors from these schools will attend and perform in a 2 hr trombone masterclass led by Mr. Scott Hartman, trombone professor at the Yale School of Music. This workshop gives individuals, age 50+, the opportunity to re-discover who they are and identify what they want to do with their career and life after age 50. Participants identify their interests, skills and values, clarify what gives meaning to their lives, and create ideas for what they want to pursue in their career and life. The workshop is open to the general public.

Much Ado About Nothing
The Hartt School presents Much Ado About Nothing from Monday through Friday, May 5 to 9. When soldiers return from war, love is in the air, but so is trouble. Shakespeare's tale of romance and intrigue is filled with witty humor and dark secrets, as Beatrice and Benedick, and Claudio and Hero, discover that the course of true love never did run smoothly. Performances are Monday through Friday 7:30 p.m. at Upper Cheney Hall, Asylum Ave Campus, 1265 Asylum Ave. Admission is $5 (cash or check only). Purchase tickets at Theater Division Office. Blackboard Upgrade to 7.3: What's New, What's the Same?
Blackboard, the campus's Learning Management System will be upgraded on May 19. The upgrade includes minor improvements and enhancements to existing course features, as well as a new tool, the Early Warning System. On Wednesday, May 14, 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. FCLD will offer an informational seminar on the new enhancements and the Early Warning System tool.
